This is the Way (Part 2)

The Way Created

Ultimately, you could sum up the phrase, “This is the way,” with one response: bring God glory in all you do. But how do we create a lifestyle that accomplishes the goal of bringing God glory?

Recently, my studies have led me to delve deeply into the life of Daniel and how he faithfully brought God glory in all that he did. I once heard a preacher say that Daniel followed God throughout his life, even while being raised in a secular education system and government. However, this could not be further from the truth of Daniel's story. Daniel was chosen for his training because he was found to be among the finest—both physically and intellectually—of all the children of Israel. This is how Daniel was described when first discovered:

“Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.” Daniel 1:4

What caused Daniel to be set apart and looked upon favorably? Why is it that Daniel is said to possess the “spirit of excellence”? It becomes clear when you understand that Daniel committed 100% to Kingdom living and understanding. The result was:

“And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.” Daniel 1:20

“Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.” Daniel 5:12

Daniel wasn’t only able to interpret dreams and visions, he was able to answer the hard questions. He was able to be a Jeremiah 12:5 follower of Jesus,

“If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?” Jeremiah 12:5

We see Daniel living out his faith in the fire, in the lion's den, and in the public square. He was able to answer hard questions as Solomon did.

“And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to prove him with hard questions.” 1 Kings 10:1

Daniel’s unwavering biblical worldview allowed him to stand firm in his faith. His training was deeply rooted in the Word. So, how do we raise modern-day Daniel 6:3 men and women of God? We train them in the Word above all else. It’s said that Daniel was ten times better than all those training in Babylon. Are we as committed to biblical training that we can produce men and women of faith who are ten times better? We cannot rest until every child is given the opportunity for a Kingdom education. We are at war for the hearts and minds of our children, and Babylon cannot win.

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Mark 8:36

Christ followers need to develop a conviction for this kind of Kingdom living. Christian parents must heed the Word. Churches must focus on Kingdom education and stop defending secular education systems. Schools must double down on the time they have with children to ensure solid biblical training. We have a promise: ten times better—but only if we take a biblical stand and take educating our children seriously.

It amazes me that in one breath, people honor God, even tithing 10%, but in the next breath, defend educating their children in environments that are not biblical. We are at war for the hearts and minds of our children, and it’s time we wake up.

This is kingdom living. This is bringing God glory in all we do.
